The Good Life

In India, a long time ago,
Lived a man - witty and wise.
Not just clever, he was also nice.
An advisor of the king of the land,
Tenali Raman was his name.
Across the country spread his fame.

The stories of his wisdom abound.
Have you heard this one?
If not, sit down, don’t run.
Lounging by the seaside,
Relaxed a friend and Tenali Raman.
Full of joy that nothing could dampen.
Tenali Raman cocked a brow,
When his friend to himself smiled,
‘What’s up?’ (or something similar) TR inquired, very mild.
Oh, I’m dreaming,
About when famous I’ll be,
Oh, what a life I’ll lead, surely!
I’ll have model kids and a beautiful house.
I’ll have tons of cash and a sweet wife.
Oh, what a perfect life!
“Would you be completely happy,
If all these dreams came true?
After all that, whatever will you do?”
“I’ll bask in the sunlight,
Relax by the shores of the beach,
If only this state, I could reach!"
Isn’t that your life right now, my friend?
You’re so busy dreaming of perfection,
Your ideal life is a matter of perception!
