I entered the room and gasped. On the walls around me, and even on the floor, there were Van Gogh’s paintings. Except, they weren’t the real paintings…they were images of the paintings projected on the walls and ceiling! Van Gogh was being recognized at last. If only he had been here to see his fame spread across the world!

It was the most beautiful experience I had ever been through. Paintings brought to life! Emotion flooded through me and  I felt I had no control over them. As I processed a field of poppies and a captivating town, I felt like I was part of the scene. As I had read a little bit about his life prior to the show, I could understand the sentiments behind each scene. The captured moments brought a lump to my throat. I could feel the anguish and pangs of sorrow in each one of those paintings.

A riverside made my eyes water as I thought of what he must have been feeling when he painted each one of those masterpieces around me. Recognition of his genius came far too late. Van Gogh, if you ever read this up in heaven, I have one thing to say to you: you inspire me tremendously.
